Kevin Sanders, Pastor
Dr. Kevin Sanders has been the pastor of Apollo Heights Baptist Church since October of 2016. He previously spent 11 years as a missionary in the Philippines. Kevin and Mare Cris met and married during his ministry in the Philippines. They have been married since 2012 and have one son.
Mare Cris serves the church by leading worship every Sunday morning and assisting with many other behind-the-scenes ministry tasks.
Sarah Soto, Youth Ministry Intern
Sarah was born and raised in Clarksville, Tennessee. She moved to El Paso last summer to attend the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). She is currently a sophomore pursuing a bachelor’s degree in social work. Her long-term goal is to earn a master’s degree in social work and become a school social worker.
Sarah began her ministry at Apollo Heights Baptist church in September of 2026.
Here’s what she has to say about youth ministry:
I have seen in my own life how much of a difference youth ministry makes in the lives of teenagers. I gave my life to Christ in my teen years because the leaders in my youth ministry invested in me and showed me what it means to be a true follower of Christ. I have also seen the struggles youth face today and I believe it’s so important that they have a place of Christian influence and community.
